Nineteen participate in June 23, 2026, HERYN, catch 260 fish after steady rain wiped out previous day

​A steady rain wiped out the Monday, June 22, 2026, HERYN program day, so participants were moved around and we bumped up the minimum total for students each of the last two days.

This included having 19 on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, but it didn't seem to impact the quality of the program. 

"It was perfection," shared 11-year-old Braeden Dometita, of Danville, on his exit survey, where he indicated that his favorite parts were "everything" and suggested areas of improvement were "nothing." 

Among the skills he picked up during the day were "how to fish" ... he wound up catching 11 panfish during the day camp.

"It is an excellent program with a great mix of instruction and hands-on learning," shared Leslie Warriner, of Danville, who's 10-year-old son, Adam, took the program. "These kids learned important skill sets that teach life lessons."

Ten-year-old Ben Oberdorf, of Bloomsburg, kept the observation simple but direct on his exit survey: "Going here is fun!" 

The 19 participants caught 260 fish during the day, a new single-day record for the five-year program.
